Kathmandu: Singapore has now claimed the title of the country with the most powerful passport globally. According to the Passport Index 2024 rankings, Singaporean passport holders can travel to 195 countries without needing a visa in advance, surpassing France.
Previously, France held the top spot in the Henley Passport Index, as reported in January. France has now been relegated to the second position, with French passport holders able to access 192 countries visa-free.
In addition to France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain also share the second spot, with citizens of these nations able to visit 192 countries without requiring a visa.
Nepal has seen an improvement in its passport ranking, moving up from 103rd place in January’s report to 98th. Nepali passport holders can now visit 39 countries without needing a visa.
Conversely, Afghanistan ranks among the weakest passports, sitting at 103rd position, with Afghan citizens able to access only 26 countries without a visa.
The United States holds the 8th position, while India is ranked 82nd.
