Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, and World Bank’s Country Director for Nepal, David Sislen, held a meeting today.
During the meeting held at the office of the Energy Minister, discussion was held on the issue WB’s support to Nepal’s energy and irrigation sector as well as various issues.
On the occasion, Minister Khadka stressed that the government would move ahead taking the private sector and donor agencies together for the development of energy sector.
He pointed out the need of WB’s support in construction of transmission line required to sell power in international market.
Sharing that the government has set a goal of producing 28,000 MW electric in 10 years, he underlined the need of WB’s support to achieve the goal.
Minister Khadka expressed the belief that construction activities of Upper Arun Hydropower Project under construction with the support of the WB would be completed soon.
Similarly, World Bank’s Country Director for Nepal, Sislen, said there would always be support and cooperation of the WB in development of Nepal’s energy and irrigation sector.
He mentioned that activities are underway in order to complete the Upper Arun Hydropower Project soon, adding the WB’s would give priority to energy and irrigation project.
