Kathmandu: The Maldivian football team has arrived here today to participate in the U-20 SAFF Championship Football Tournament among the South Asian nations to be held in home ground.
Officials of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) received the Maldives team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The SAFF Championship will kick off from August 18. Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are placed in Group ‘A’ of the Championship while India, Maldives and Bhutan are in Group ‘B’. Hosts Nepal and Sri Lanka will vie in the inaugural match.
The Bhutanese, Indian and Sri Lankan teams are arriving in Nepal tomorrow. The Bangladesh team is arriving on August 17, ANFA said.
The Nepali team is comprised of Jiarath Shekh, Krishal Moktan, Bishal KC, Simanta Thapa, Aswin Ghorasaini, Bikram Tamang, Ayush Timilsina, Avinash Syangtan, Jana Prakash Bom, Lakshu Thapa and Madan Poudel.
Similarly, Ram Thapa, Samin Ghimire, Saroj Darlami, Ninsang Limboo, Kushal Deuba, Niraj Karki, Harish Raj Bhatta, Dharmendra Kunwar, Anil Bamjan, Samir Tamang, Nirajan Dhami and Rohan Khadgi are also in the Nepali lineup.
