From October 23 to 27, Nepalese players will participate in the FIA Motorsport Games 2024, taking place in Valencia, Spain. This prestigious international motorsport competition, organized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is the world’s largest event of its kind held in an Olympic format and will see three Nepalese drivers competing.
The Nepalese team will participate in two events at the Games, which feature a range of disciplines. Diprash Shakya will compete in the e-sports GT category, while Krishna Prasad Paudel and Pragnya Kandel will participate in the auto slalom event. They will demonstrate their skills, speed, and capabilities on challenging courses against international competitors.
Diprash Shakya, who initially started as a kart driver, is one of the top sim-racing drivers in Nepal. Krishna Prasad Paudel is a competitor in the Asia-Pacific Autocross Championship and also serves as the coordinator for the Athletic Commission. Similarly, Pragnya, a bank officer, is a successful competitor in national autocross events and holds a motorsport license.
This prestigious international platform, held every two years, will see players from around fifty countries compete, providing a significant opportunity for participants to showcase their skills. The excitement of competing alongside world-renowned motorsport drivers is expected to create a unique history for Nepalese drivers.
Dashrath Risal, President of the Nepal Automobiles Association, will serve as the official delegate for the Nepalese team, while Yaduraj Lamichhane will act as the team manager. Tika Ram Yatri, who reported from the track in France during the previous edition, will be present as the media delegate. This kind of international participation and team presence will greatly aid in promoting and enhancing the rapidly growing motorsport culture in Nepal and in training world-class drivers.
