Rasuwa – With the reopening of the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung highway, imports have begun at the Rasuwagadhi border point. The highway, which was previously blocked due to heavy rains and flooding, has been repaired, allowing for the resumption of imports.
On Tuesday, four containers of apples, two containers of pears, and three containers of walnuts were imported through this route, according to the Rasuwa customs office. Seventy-six cargo containers entered Nepal from Kerung via the Maitiri bridge, while three cargo containers carrying Nepali products and one for imports also left for China.
The closure of the highway had caused a halt in imports, leading to a decline in revenue collection. According to Raviindra Pyakurel, the information officer at the customs office, revenue had decreased by 2.5 billion rupees.
Due to the highway being closed, many new Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) were also unable to enter Nepal. It is anticipated that these vehicles will soon be able to enter Nepal more easily.
