Kathmandu . In a remarkable display of market excitement, the newly unveiled Aito M8 large crossover, jointly developed by Huawei and Seres, has amassed over 100,000 pre-launch orders in China, signaling its strong entry into the highly competitive EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) SUV segment.
The Aito M8, which began presales on March 6, saw an explosive response from the market. Within just one hour, over 7,500 units were booked, and by April 7, the total had crossed the 100,000 mark—just 32 days after presales began. Early adopters who placed a 5,000 yuan (~$700) deposit were offered a 10,000 yuan (~$1,400) discount post-launch, contributing to the rapid surge in bookings.
Aito, a brand born from a partnership between Seres and Huawei, leverages Seres’ expertise in chassis development and manufacturing while Huawei powers the vehicle’s intelligent systems and core components. The Aito lineup currently includes the M5, M7, M9, and now the M8—its latest and possibly most successful addition.
Impressive Specs and Features
The Aito M8 is a large SUV, measuring 5190 mm in length with a 3105 mm wheelbase, and is positioned close to the flagship Aito M9 in design and technology. It features a sleek exterior with a LiDAR sensor, full-width LED headlight bar, 21-inch alloy wheels, retractable door handles, and tinted windows for a premium look.
Inside, the M8 offers two seating configurations: 2+2+2 and 2+3, catering to different user preferences. A standout feature is the 75-inch Huawei AR head-up display and a triple-screen dashboard setup, delivering a high-tech and immersive driving experience.
The SUV comes with dual-motor all-wheel drive, generating a peak power of 392 kW (526 hp). It is backed by a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender and a battery option of either 36 kWh (LFP) or 52 kWh (NMC), providing a CLTC range of 201 km and 310 km, respectively.
A Rising Star in the EREV Market
With this launch, Huawei and Seres are poised to disrupt the EREV crossover market, competing directly with rivals like Li Auto L8 and Deepal S09. The Aito M8’s success showcases growing consumer confidence in smart, tech-driven vehicles and further strengthens Huawei’s footprint in the automotive space.
As anticipation builds for the official launch, the Aito M8 is already establishing itself as a benchmark in China’s intelligent mobility sector.
