Kathmandu – Israel has launched intense bombardments on Gaza City, with media reports claiming that the Israeli military has begun a ground operation to capture the entire city. Reports of Israeli attacks have also emerged from central Gaza, particularly in the same areas where thousands of displaced Palestinians are fleeing the violence.
Palestinian authorities have stated that the number of dead and injured is continuing to rise as a result of the ongoing airstrikes and artillery shelling. Local journalists in Gaza report that Israeli air raids and shelling are ongoing, and there are accounts of people being trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
These latest attacks come as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Jerusalem on Monday and reaffirmed America’s unwavering support to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Tuesday morning, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Gaza is burning.” He further warned that Israel would not back down until its mission is complete.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Israeli military regarding a new ground offensive, but the situation on the ground suggests a possible escalation. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen, with civilians caught in the crossfire of an intensifying conflict.
