Sankhuwasabha: A house, a health facility, and an under-construction hospital in Bhotkhola rural municipality of Sankhuwasabha were buried by landslides triggered by incessant rains here since Friday. The landslides occurred on Friday and Saturday in Bhotkhola which lies 44.5 kilometres from the district headquarters Khandbari.
Rural municipality Chair Wangchhedar Bhote said the landslide buried the house of Ridar Jyabu Bhote of Sembung of Bhotkhola-4, forcing the family to take refuge at neighbour’s house.
The landslide also damaged a camp for the Upper Arun’s access road at Chhongrang, burying two vehicles owned by the project.
The disaster resulted in a loss of millions of rupees as it buried a health post at Syaksilago and an under-construction five-bed hospital at the same location. However, the disaster caused no human casualties.
The landslide swept away the belongings of the Rural Electricity Company Limited at Chhongrang, and various roads at Bhotokhola have been disrupted by the disaster. The details of the losses are awaited.
