Kathmandu, The authorities at Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha, have taken decisive action against the alleged financial malpractice at Kantibhairav Savings and Credit Cooperative Pvt Ltd in Gokarneshowr municipality-8.
The arrested individuals include the Chairperson, Hari Krishna Shrestha of Gokarneshwor municipality-4, former Chairperson and patron, Prem Shrestha, Treasurer Sher Lal Shrestha, and Joint-Manager Rajendra Shrestha. They are currently held at the Gokarna Police Sector building under the Circle, as confirmed by senior Sub-Inspector Rajesh Karki.
Concurrently, Manager Ram Das Shrestha, Secretary of the Cooperative Board of Directors, and members Anirudra Shrestha, Radheshyam Shrestha, along with the coordinator of the Account Committee, Chandra Prasad Poudel Shrestha, are currently evading authorities. Police have issued arrest warrants for their apprehension.
The Cooperative is accused of embezzling a substantial amount, totaling Rs 1.21 billion, affecting 7,700 depositors. The chairperson of the task force under the Cooperative Victim Struggle Committee, Rajesh Kumar Bista, has disclosed this alarming financial misconduct. The ongoing investigation aims to bring all responsible parties to justice and recover the misappropriated funds for the affected depositors.
