Kathmandu — China has extended congratulations to Nepal’s Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, expressing its commitment to respecting the development path freely chosen by the Nepali people.
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two nations, stating that China has always respected Nepal’s independent choices. The spokesperson further noted that China is ready to work with Nepal to advance bilateral relations by promoting the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, strengthening cooperation, and expanding exchanges across various sectors.
The remarks came after President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Karki as the head of the interim government on the foundation of the Janajati Movement. While China’s statement arrived a little later, neighboring India welcomed the interim government on Friday night itself.
