Kathmandu. Amidst growing tensions with the United States, Cuba has reviewed its war preparedness. According to state media, the country’s National Defense Council held a session to discuss and analyze plans and measures to be adopted in a “State of War” scenario.
This high-level meeting comes at a time when U.S.-Cuba relations have significantly deteriorated following the U.S. military operation on January 2, which resulted in the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
The National Defense Council of Cuba is responsible for taking command of the entire country during times of war or natural disasters. According to a government statement, the objective of the meeting was to strengthen the coordination and readiness of the leadership and administrative apparatus. The meeting specifically analyzed how Cuba would transition to a “State of War” in the event of a conflict with another nation.
Following the capture of Maduro, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued continuous threats toward Cuba.
