Kathmandu: Starting from July 16, entry to Singha Durbar will require an electronic pass.
According to Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the electronic pass can be obtained online to make entry easier.
Bhattarai explained, “You can apply online for the pass and use it to enter. Those unable to get an electronic pass can still use the old system.”
He added that applicants must visit the Home Ministry’s website, fill out necessary details, and bring the approved pass (via picture or screenshot) for entry to Singha Durbar. This process is designed for smart users.
“This change aims to simplify access to Singha Durbar. Smart users obtain passes through the official Home Ministry website, while others are considered ordinary users,” Bhattarai said.
He clarified, “Security measures remain in place. Police will conduct checks before granting entry, but this online system is introduced to benefit users.”
Obtaining the online form is straightforward. Bhattarai described the process: “Visit the website, log in, and request an electronic pass. Specify the purpose and desired meeting time. Once approved by the relevant ministry, entry is permitted. Visits may be scheduled if officials are busy.”
After receiving an electronic pass, police will conduct necessary checks.
