Kathmandu – U.S. President Donald Trump has made a sharp verbal swipe at French President Emmanuel Macron. Responding to a question regarding his participation in an emergency G7 meeting in Paris, Trump stated that he would not be attending, further commenting that Macron would not remain the President of France for much longer.
This exchange follows recent remarks from President Macron at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where he criticized the new wave of American tariffs as “fundamentally unacceptable.” Macron argued that the situation becomes even more grave when economic measures are used as “weapons” to pressure regional sovereignty.
The diplomatic tension is also being felt by other world leaders in Davos; Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed solidarity with Greenland, stating that Canada stands firmly with Greenland and Denmark. Despite the escalating rhetoric, President Trump is currently en route to Switzerland to participate in the ongoing economic forum alongside these global leaders.
