Gaza Governance Transition Begins as Storms Kill Four in Tent Camps
In the Gaza Strip, Hamas has signaled it is prepared to dissolve its existing government and transfer authority to a new U.S.-brokered “Board of Peace” committee later this week.
This transition is a key component of a broader peace plan aimed at ending the protracted conflict. However, the humanitarian situation remains dire; on Tuesday, howling winds and heavy rainfall caused walls to collapse onto tents in displacement camps in Gaza City, killing four people.
Amidst the political shift, Israeli forces reported killing three Palestinians who allegedly approached troops near the Morag corridor, while a separate Israeli drone strike killed 13 people across Gaza as the military continues to target remaining militant pockets ahead of the formal governance handover.
