Kathmandu: Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC has said that federalism is increasing unnecessary and unproductive economic burden to the country.
Participating in the discussion on headings of various ministries under the Appropriation Bill, 2081, in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, he questioned how we can continue federalism by taking loans from donors and other agencies.
“About 90 per cent of the country’s income has to be allocated for general expenses. Federalism is the burden of general expenditure. It is not right to take a loan for federalism”, said KC.
Mentioning that in the budget of the fiscal year 2024/25 there is an allocation of Rs. 500 billion for the local level and the province, President KC said that the economic condition of the country is weak due to the fact that the federal government has to arrange the budget to run the provinces.
“The source of internal income of the province is very low. The annual income of any province is not even Rs 150 million. In such a situation, there is no achievement by allocating the budget to the province every year”, he said.
