U.S. President Donald Trump has made a significant claim regarding international energy trade, stating that India has signed an agreement to purchase oil from Venezuela instead of Iran.
This development follows the removal of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro from power. President Trump indicated that the United States is moving forward with plans to oversee Venezuela’s oil industry, asserting that the nation is now positioned to supply vast quantities of petroleum to the global market.
During his statement, Trump claimed that the deal with India is already finalized, providing New Delhi with a secondary source of fuel to replace its Iranian imports. Furthermore, the President extended an invitation to other major economies, noting that China is also “welcome” to purchase Venezuelan oil under the new landscape.
As of now, the Government of India has not issued an official response or confirmation regarding President Trump’s claims about this specific energy agreement.
