Kathmandu – A recent Israeli airstrike in Gaza has claimed the lives of at least 80 Palestinians, with local hospitals reporting that most victims were killed in Israeli gunfire.
Emergency workers have confirmed that the attack, which targeted buildings and tents housing displaced families near the Firas market in Gaza City’s Daraj area, resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, including women and children, during overnight airstrikes.
Israeli military officials claim the attack was aimed at Hamas fighters, identifying two militants as the target of the strikes. However, they noted that the reported death toll did not align with their own figures.
In the meantime, Israeli tanks and forces have continued to advance deeper into Gaza City, which Israel has described as the last stronghold of Hamas. The Israeli military stated that the ground operations were part of a broader strategy to free hostages allegedly held by Hamas and to ensure the decisive defeat of the Palestinian militant group.
The escalating violence has once again highlighted the human toll of the ongoing conflict, with both sides suffering significant losses, but civilians bearing the brunt of the destruction.
