Kathmandu – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the newly signed peace deal with Hamas a “big day for Israel,” following the first phase of the agreement aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
Speaking after the deal was approved, Netanyahu said his government would soon hold a special meeting to finalize plans for bringing Israeli hostages back home.
“With the approval of the first stage of this plan, all our hostages will be returned,” Netanyahu said. “This is a diplomatic achievement a national and moral victory for Israel.”
He credited former U.S. President Donald Trump for playing a key role in the breakthrough. “We have reached this critical turning point thanks to the tireless efforts of our friend, President Trump,” he said, adding, “I thank him for his leadership, partnership, and unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and the freedom of our hostages.”
The deal, signed late last night, marks the beginning of a phased peace initiative under Trump’s proposal. In this first stage, Hamas has agreed to release all hostages, and Israel will begin pulling back its forces from agreed-upon areas.
Both sides hope the move will pave the way for longer-term peace and stability in the region.
