Bhavani Rana is the first successful female Chairperson of Nepal Industry and Commerce Federation (fncci).
Women leadership has been observed with importance in the world. Women have more responsibility in the family. So their socio-economic role outside the family has been considered more crucial.
Former Chairperson (president) Rana claimed her tenure as the successful period ‘we have to address entrepreneur’s demand and coordinate with government.’
Beside some weakness, my tenure as Chairperson became satisfactory. In some cases, as a businessman, I worked for business was motif. So ‘Unless otherwise my tenure was successful’, said Rana.
Gender is not the barrier for women leadership ‘Honesty and responsiveness are the keys to successes. ‘To be the Chairperson of this renowned organization was my dream, I worked honestly with positive vibe and I get success on it Rana added.
‘Leadership has challenges. My self-motivation changed those challenges into the opportunities. I learned a lot from there’, Rana further added.
Her nomination in 2005 AD as a nominated member made her think that she got the position being a woman. Later on, she got victory on the position of Central member, vice-chairperson and the chairperson. With her continuous hard work Rana proved her position and responsibility very successfully.
She had worked in this institution alone as a woman among majority of men’. Also, her colleague admired her as a successful leadership.’ Her family was in leading position but none of her family member involved in business and politics.

‘I had keen desire leadership. I would be a political leader if I did not involve in entrepreneurship’, said Rana.
Rana and her sister did not feel or see any discrimination between son and daughter. She learned and involved in any sector when man involved.
Her mother inspired her all the time. ‘My mother did not tell anything which son should do and which daughter should not’, said Rana.
She was born in a city Kathmandu and a modern family where women’s responsibility was understood differently than a common Nepali family. She was cared and guided by her mother in a modern and progressive way. Her mother taught her more than the household work.
Rana has only two sisters. She learned swimming, playing guitar, horse riding that encouraged her to think something above than the common Nepali women of this time. Fortunately, she got cooperative and motivational family after her marriage.
‘Family support is essential in every step of success.’
Rana felt easier to extend business and develop leadership after her marriage. Mother-in-law as a political personality and social worker husband became the supporting pillars for her personal development in a social and business sector.
With her sister Rana studied fashion design in India. She started a business after completion of her study in India. But in present she does not have any involvement in this business.
We, two sisters had run a Garment Event Management but it was shut down in 200AD. ‘I studied fashion design in India to uplift our garment company but it was meaningless’, said Rana.
Rana ran a sugar mill after her marriage. In the course of time she shut down sugar mill. Currently, her devotion to the extension of Sneha Hotel located in Nepalgunj can be seen clearly. Agriculture based business is another side of her business.
