Kathmandu- North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has asserted that his country’s decision to maintain and expand its nuclear arsenal has been vindicated by recent global events. According to North Korean state media, Kim stated that the recent military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran serve as clear proof that North Korea’s path toward nuclear armament was the right strategic choice.
Addressing the parliament, Kim emphasized that in the current global climate, a formidable military force is the only true guarantee of national security. He vowed to further strengthen North Korea’s nuclear capabilities, positioning the program as a primary deterrent against U.S. aggression. Kim also claimed that his decision to accelerate the nuclear program after the collapse of talks with the U.S. in 2019 has proven to be his most correct move, stating that the nation is now prepared for any eventuality.
Furthermore, Kim reiterated his policy of identifying South Korea as the country’s primary enemy, warning of a severe response should any attempt at an attack be made. He linked the country’s security directly to its nuclear status, arguing that having such power has allowed the nation to focus on building a self-reliant economy while remaining safe from foreign interference.
Despite years of pressure and sanctions from the United States and its allies aimed at denuclearization, North Korea has remained defiant. Following the failure of diplomatic efforts between 2018 and 2019, the North has focused on expanding its military strategy. Experts now believe North Korea possesses long-range missiles capable of striking distant targets, significantly increasing its strategic reach.
