The United States has stated that it has received indications of Iran attempting to push forward its nuclear program once again. US Vice President JD Vance, speaking with media personnel, claimed that evidence has been found showing Iran is seeking to rebuild its nuclear program following US-led strikes in June of last year.
He stated, “The principle is very clear: Iran must not have a nuclear weapon. If they move toward constructing a nuclear weapon, it will be a serious problem for us. We have seen evidence suggesting that such an effort is taking place.”
Vance made these remarks ahead of scheduled talks between Iran and the US regarding the nuclear program. Representatives from both sides are set to hold discussions in Geneva this Thursday.
According to Vance, President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will represent the United States in the talks.
He clarified that the current administration wishes to resolve the issue of Iran’s nuclear program through diplomatic channels. However, he also hinted that other options remain open if necessary.
As US-Iran relations appear to be heading toward renewed tension, the Geneva talks are being viewed with significant importance.
