Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Tosima Karki has reminded her own party’s government and three ministers serving in it of the slogans they once chanted in support of Dr Govinda KC.
In a social media post, Karki appealed for the protection of Dr KC’s life, recalling the slogans raised during previous protests in support of the medical reform activist. She tagged three ministers in her post, urging them to remember their past commitment to his cause.
“KP Oli, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Pushpa Kamal Dahal: Your attachment to the medical mafia will never bring prosperity to the country. One, two, three, four: Stop corruption. We stand with Dr Govinda KC. Our health is in our own hands. We stand alongside Dr KC,” she wrote.
“Do you remember these slogans repeatedly echoed at Maitighar and Baneshwor? Do you remember tying headbands around your foreheads declaring, ‘If Dr KC is mad, then I am mad too’?” she added.
Karki tagged three ministers in her post: Sasmita Pokharel, Birajbhakta Shrestha and Shishir Khanal, all of whom are currently serving in the government.
She further said that the current government must implement all agreements reached with Dr KC by previous governments, including the commitments made by the present administration.
“Dr KC did not fight alone. You and I fought alongside him. Now, we must take responsibility for bringing those issues to their intended conclusion,” Karki wrote.
Urging the government to take immediate action, she said Dr KC should not be subjected to further suffering at this stage of his life.
She called on the government to hold talks with Dr KC without delay and take necessary steps to protect his life.
