Kathmandu – The Iranian government has reported a devastating toll on its civilian and educational sectors as the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel continues. According to the Iranian Ministry of Education, approximately 250 students and teachers have been killed in recent strikes. The ministry also noted that the attacks have severely damaged or destroyed 723 educational and cultural institutions, marking a significant loss of infrastructure alongside the human casualties.
Providing an update on the broader scale of the conflict, Iran’s Deputy Health Minister, Ali Jafarian, stated that the total death toll since the escalation began on February 28, 2026, has reached 1,937. This figure reflects a sharp increase in fatalities as the war enters its second month, with thousands more reported injured across the country. The health ministry continues to warn of a growing humanitarian crisis as medical facilities struggle to keep pace with the influx of victims.
In a separate and stern warning, the Iranian military has declared that it may target hotels in the Middle East that are housing U.S. soldiers. Military spokesperson Abolfalzl Shekarchi stated on national television that any civilian establishment used by American forces will be considered a legitimate military target. He argued that the U.S. is using these locations as “human shields” and asserted that Iran will strike American personnel wherever they are found if the conflict continues to escalate.
