Pokhara: A recommendation has been made to take action against vehicles involved in mining and transporting river products during the monsoon season. The committee responsible for overseeing river and mineral product activities in Kaski district has suggested action against 12 vehicles for breaking the law, based on Section 3 (b) of the 2077 regulations for extracting, selling, and managing stone, gravel, and sand.
The vehicles facing action include 11 tipper trucks and one tractor. Liladhar Paudel, the committee coordinator and head of the District Coordination Committee in Kaski, told Republica that a formal request will be made to Pokhara Metropolitan City to take action against these vehicles for operating during the restricted period.
According to the rules, mining and transporting river products are not allowed during the rainy season, which lasts from June to August.
The vehicles involved are tipper trucks with the numbers Ga 1 Ka 1515, Ga 1 Ka 6214, Ba 4 Kha 3321, Ga 2 Kha 145, Ga 1 Ka 2402, Ga 2 Kha 328, Ga 2 Kha 1156, Ga 1 Ka 6392, Ga 1 Ka 5113, Ga 1 Ka 7990, and the tractor with the number Ga 1 Ta 7012. These vehicles were caught for unauthorized excavation and transportation.
On June 30, a team from the District Police Office Kaski and Ward Police Office seized these vehicles while they were loading river products at Daskhet Ghat, Pokhara Metropolitan City-19.
The seized vehicles are now with the District Monitoring Committee for further investigation and action.
