Kathmandu : Following the Saurya Airlines plane accident on Wednesday, postmortem procedures for the 18 victims are currently underway.
The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) began conducting postmortems Wednesday evening and has completed examinations on seven bodies so far, the hospital confirmed.
All bodies are expected to undergo postmortem by this evening, with families slated to receive them soon after. However, delays have occurred due to severe burns on the victims’ bodies, extending the process to approximately four hours per examination.
The accident, which occurred during take-off from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Pokhara at 11:11 AM, claimed the lives of 18 individuals, including a Yemeni national. Captain Manish Ratna Shakya was successfully rescued and is currently receiving critical care at Kathmandu Medical Hospital (KMC), Sinamangal.
