Kathmandu: The number of people infected with cholera has reached 25 in the country as of now, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).
The acute diarrhoeal infection was confirmed in two people in the past 24 hours, the update showed.
So far, 16 cases of cholera have been reported in Godawari municipality of Lalitpur district alone, while 8 in Tokha municipality of Kathmandu district and one at Dhangadi sub-metropolitan city in Kailaki district.
The bacterial disease is transmitted to human by consumption of contaminated food and water containing Vibrio cholera bacteria.
Public health experts have advised to pay special attention to essential sanitation and drink boiled water to prevent from the water-borne diseases.
