Kathmandu – Now, errors in driving license applications can be corrected directly at the transport management and service offices under the provincial government. This system was introduced following a decision made on 10th Mangsir (Nov 26, 2024) at the departmental level, as informed by the Department of Transport Management.
The current procedure for issuing driving licenses involves several stages, including the application for the driving license, form review and approval, written exam, answer sheet evaluation, result publication, practical exam, and final result announcement. These tasks have been carried out by both the Transport Management Office and the Transport Management Service Offices, which are under the provincial government.
According to the Constitution of Nepal 2072 and the 2075 report on the extension of authority, the management of driving licenses has been granted to the provincial level. Now, in addition to biometric details, the correction of other information related to the driving license applications will also be handled by the provincial offices.
The department has stated that this arrangement will make it easier for the general public and service recipients, improving the efficiency and delivery of services.
