Kathmandu: Dalit rights activist Pradip Pariyar has been appointed as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Leadership for the 2025-2026 term. Pariyar, the founder and chair of the Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance, will contribute to discussions on caste-based discrimination, exclusion, and social justice at a global level.
The Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance has welcomed Pariyar’s appointment, stating that it will help strengthen the movement for an equitable society. With over two decades of experience in policymaking on youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and social justice, Pariyar has been a prominent advocate for marginalized communities. In 2020, the World Economic Forum recognized him as a Young Global Leader.
The Global Future Councils (GFCs) serve as the World Economic Forum’s foremost interdisciplinary think tank, bringing together around 700 experts across 36 thematic councils. These councils generate insights on emerging issues, innovative ideas, and policy recommendations to tackle global challenges. The Network of Global Future Councils operates on principles of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
Dalit Lives Matter is a global movement advocating for social justice and an end to caste-based discrimination. The organization sees Pariyar’s inclusion in the Global Future Council as a milestone in its efforts to promote justice, equity, and inclusion on the international stage.
