Kathmandu .The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) was officially launched today in a landmark event held in Kathmandu, uniting industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders under the powerful theme, “Empowering Growth through Mobility.” The ceremony marked a significant step toward shaping the future of Nepal’s automotive and mobility sector.
The event was chaired by Ritu Singh Vaidya, the first chairperson of NAIMA and the first woman to lead such an initiative in Nepal’s automotive industry. In her keynote address, Vaidya articulated NAIMA’s vision:
“The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) serves as a unified platform for representation, strategic collaboration, development, and to advocate the collective voice of Nepal’s mobility sector at both national and international levels.”
NAIMA’s mission focuses on driving progress through advocacy, supporting innovation, and fostering collaboration. The association aims to work with government bodies, the private sector, and civil society to create an automotive ecosystem that ensures “Mobility for All.”
Vaidya outlined NAIMA’s five foundational pillars:
She emphasized NAIMA’s commitment to being Nepal’s first non-politically aligned association, built on voluntary leadership and consensus-based decision-making, with no elections to ensure unity and focus on collective goals.
Vaidya introduced the founding board members: Suhrid Raj Ghimire, Shekhar Golchha, Cabinet Shrestha, Saurabh Jyoti, Sandeep Kumar Sharda, Nirakar Shrestha, Yamuna Shrestha, Nikunj Agrawal, Hemant Golchha, and Udayan Kabra, highlighting their shared dedication to advancing the industry with integrity and collaboration.
A major highlight of the event was the announcement of the Nepal Mobility Expo, set to be Nepal’s largest mobility exhibition. Gaurav Sharda, a member of NAIMA’s autoshow committee, unveiled the expo’s logo and confirmed the event dates: August 6–10, 2025 (21st to 25th Shrawan 2082) at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu. Managed by Media Space Solutions, the expo will feature a wide range of exhibitors, thematic zones, and cutting-edge mobility solutions, showcasing the evolving mobility culture in Nepal. Sharda invited participation and registration, sparking excitement among attendees.
The event concluded with remarks from founding board member Suhrid Raj Ghimire, who expressed gratitude and optimism, stating, “This marks a new beginning for Nepal’s mobility sector.”
