Sharjah . Nepal made a mark on the global culinary map by securing the Bronze Medal at the 28th Emirates International Salon Culinaire, held from May 21–23, 2025, in Sharjah as part of the Middle East’s largest food exhibition, Expo Culinaire.
The Nepalese Chef Society UAE Chapter, led by Chef Human Prasad Limbu, presented a stunning array of authentic Nepali dishes that captivated judges and audiences alike. The team, including Chef Coach Arun Adhikari and chefs Karna Budhathoki, Shyam Lamgade, Rajan Shrestha, and Sulochana Shrestha, competed against culinary professionals from 11 countries in a high-stakes Live Cooking Competition.
Their winning menu featured traditional delicacies such as Mustang Aalu Ko Chhop, Pahaadi Ban Kukhura Momocha, Yomari, Himali Kodo Ko Dhido with Sisno and Pahaadi Bhale Ko Jhol, and Boju Ko Sekuwa — a vibrant showcase of Nepal’s mountainous flavors and age-old recipes.
The Nepalese Food Pavilion became a cultural hub, drawing visits from dignitaries like Ms. Ranjita Dahal, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal, and Mr. Bhupendra Ghimire, Second Secretary, along with prominent members of the Nepali diaspora in the UAE.
Born in Wasmeri, Tehrathum, Chef Human Limbu began his culinary journey at the age of 10, learning traditional techniques from his family. A graduate of Tribhuvan University and professionally trained in pastry arts at Lenôtre Paris, Chef Limbu has over two decades of international experience. His work spans elite hotel brands including Marriott, Hilton, and Atlantis, and he has contributed to launching 17 five-star hotels in the Middle East.
This win not only celebrates culinary talent but also places Nepal firmly on the map of global gastronomy.
