Kathmandu – In a gesture of political courtesy and dialogue, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) spokesperson Manish Jha held a meeting with former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday morning at her residence in Bhainsepati. The discussion lasted for about an hour and a half and, according to Jha, focused on the current political climate and the need for constructive engagement.
Describing the visit as more than just a formal courtesy, Jha said the meeting served as the beginning of a broader political dialogue, rather than being driven by any specific agenda.
Following the meeting, Jha shared that former President Bhandari had expressed concern about the current “abnormal political situation” in the country and emphasized the importance of taking proactive steps toward resolution. She was also reported to have shown concern over how the cooperative scandal had turned into a political issue rather than being addressed with practical solutions. According to Jha, Bhandari expressed goodwill toward RSP president Rabi Lamichhane in this context.
During the conversation, Bhandari reportedly welcomed the entry of the younger generation into politics and conveyed her willingness to support and guide them. She expressed readiness to play a nurturing role, helping emerging political figures find their footing in Nepal’s often turbulent political landscape.
Though informal in nature, the meeting hinted at the former president’s ongoing engagement in national affairs and her openness to dialogue with new political forces shaping the country’s future.
