Kathmandu: Biratnagar Kings has achieved its third consecutive victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). In a match concluded on Monday, Biratnagar defeated Janakpur Bolts by 9 runs.
Chasing a target of 136 runs set by Biratnagar, Janakpur managed to score 126 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. For Janakpur, Jan Nicol Loftie scored a maximum of 41 runs, while Lahiru Milantha added 23 runs. Biratnagar bowlers Sandeep Lamichhane took 4 wickets and Surya Tamang took 2 wickets.
Earlier at the TU Cricket Ground, after losing the toss and being invited to bat, Biratnagar scored 135 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Biratnagar, openers Lokesh Bam was out after scoring 28 runs off 26 balls, and George Munsey scored 10 runs. Martin Guptill was dismissed after scoring 13 runs off 15 balls. Basir Ahmed (36 runs off 35 balls) and Shubham Ranjane (37 runs off 29 balls) were the top scorers for Biratnagar. For Janakpur, Rupesh Singh and Sangeet Khure took 2 wickets each, and Aditya Mehta took one wicket.
Following this victory, Biratnagar has 6 points from three wins in three matches and is at the top of the points table. Meanwhile, defending champions Janakpur Bolts have suffered their second consecutive loss.
