Kathmandu. A passenger plane crashed shortly after taking off from Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. The Star Sky Airlines aircraft reportedly plunged into shallow sea waters just minutes after departing from Aden Adde International Airport.
Authorities have confirmed that all passengers on board are safe. There were reportedly 50 passengers on the aircraft. According to officials, the plane encountered a technical malfunction while gaining altitude. The pilot was unable to maintain control, leading the aircraft to come down in the waters near the Mogadishu coast.
As reported by AirLive, the aircraft skidded across the surface of the water for some distance before finally coming to a halt near the shoreline. Photos from the crash site show that one of the aircraft’s wings was completely severed. Airport officials stated that rescue teams reached the scene within minutes of the incident.
