Kathmandu, Nepal : A fundraising campaign is being organized in Monaco to support the victims of the devastating flood that struck the Bhotekoshi River area of Nepal’s mountainous Rasuwa district on September 26.
The fundraising initiative has been launched under the leadership of Alexander Moghadam, Honorary Consul General of Nepal to Monaco, with the aim of mobilizing financial support for families and communities affected by the disaster.
Moghadam has already announced a personal contribution of €10,000 toward the relief effort. A broader fundraising campaign is now being prepared in Monaco, with the participation of prominent members of the community, including philanthropists, industrialists, business leaders and other well-wishers.
The funds collected in Monaco are expected to be sent to Nepal through the Monaco Red Cross to support people affected by the flood.
“I will personally contribute €10,000. We are now working to raise additional funds here. After the fundraising is completed, the amount collected will be sent to the flood victims in Nepal through the Monaco Red Cross,” Moghadam said.

Moghadam is a prominent businessman and philanthropist who has maintained a long-standing relationship with Nepal. He is also known for his close and cordial relationship with the Monaco royal family and has maintained strong connections within the Principality’s social and business community.
His relationship with Nepal goes beyond his official diplomatic role. Over the years, Moghadam has supported a range of humanitarian, educational and social initiatives in Nepal, particularly benefiting children, earthquake survivors and vulnerable communities.
Nepal and Monaco established formal diplomatic relations in 2012, and Moghadam was subsequently appointed as Nepal’s honorary consul in Monaco. He has continued to play a role in strengthening people-to-people and humanitarian ties between Nepal and Monaco.
Moghadam’s support for Nepal became particularly visible following the devastating earthquake of 2015. He contributed to the construction of houses for earthquake-affected families in areas including Chandragiri and Gokarneshwar in Kathmandu and Lubhu in Lalitpur.
He has also been actively involved in initiatives supporting vulnerable children in Nepal. With his support, Hamro Sunaulo Sansar, a children’s home in Kageshwori Municipality of Kathmandu, was established. Around 15 children without parental care are currently living there, and Moghadam continues to provide support for them.
His assistance has also extended to education. At Buddha Secondary School in Lalitpur, his support helped with the construction of school infrastructure, including a school building, library and assembly hall. He has also provided computers and other educational materials to the school.
Despite being 90 years old, Moghadam continues to maintain a strong personal bond with Nepal and its people.
“I feel that Nepal is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Nepali people are very kind and I have great affection for them. It gives me satisfaction to be able to help Nepalis in their difficult times. As long as I live, I will continue to support Nepali people from my side,” he said.

The latest fundraising initiative reflects Moghadam’s continued commitment to supporting Nepal during times of crisis. The campaign is expected to bring together members of Monaco’s business, social and philanthropic communities to mobilize additional resources for flood victims in Nepal.
The funds raised in Monaco will be channeled to Nepal through the Monaco Red Cross, providing assistance to communities affected by the devastating flood.
