Kathmandu. Israel has continued airstrikes in the Gaza Strip for a second consecutive day. According to Palestinian officials, at least 13 people, including children, have been killed in the latest attacks.
According to officials, residential areas in Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Deir al-Balah were targeted in the strikes. Gaza’s civil defense agency stated that Israeli fighter jets targeted several settlements. Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed the operations targeted military infrastructure and Hamas fighters in Gaza. According to the military, two Hamas fighters were killed in the strikes.
The attack comes after Hamas accepted a proposed disarmament plan a few days ago. Under the plan, Hamas reportedly accepted a proposal to hand over its weapons to U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Peace Board.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen clarified that there is no agreement to halt military operations in Gaza. He stated that until Hamas surrenders its weapons, bringing the Gaza Strip fully under Israeli control remains necessary. According to the news agency Reuters, Israel currently controls around 70 percent of the Gaza Strip’s territory.
