Kathmandu, May 3
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is visiting Nepal on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, Indian media outlets have reported.
“Prime Minister Modi is making preparations to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti. This is going to be Modi’s first visit after he was re-elected as the PM of India in 2019,” The Hindu reported.
Indian Prime Minister Modi’s visit is taking place one month after Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba embarked on an official visit to the southern neighbor.
Indian PM Modi will visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. There will be no bilateral agreements during his Nepal visit, the sources have said.
According to sources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the management of the southern neighbor’s PM’s visit in coordination with security officials and those from the Ministry of Culture, Transport, and Civil Aviation.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to leave Delhi for Kushinagar International Airport and then fly to Lumbini by helicopter.
This is going to be the Indian Prime Minister’s fifth visit to Nepal. He had visited Nepal two twice in 2014 and two times in 2018 during the first stint of his premiership.
