Jhapa: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Jhapa chapter has conferred the Moti Journalism Award to journalists Keshav Acharya and Krishna Humagain. Both Acharya and Humagain are into journalism since the last 30 years.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire jointly handed the award carrying a purse of Rs 101 thousand and 111 to the two journalists amidst a programme on Monday.
The Award instituted to the memory of Motiram Bhatta, the first journalist of the country, was given away on the occasion of the 14th convention of the FNJ Jhapa chapter. The Award is given in every three years.
Similarly, the ‘Keto Journalism Award’ instituted by the FNJ Jhapa chapter in the name of ‘Keto’ the first newspaper published from Jhapa district, was handed to Narendra Dhakal. This award carries a purse of Rs 25,000. Dhakal is the editor of the online edition of the Purbanchal daily newspaper.
Likewise, the ‘Tanka Prasad and Ramadevi Pathak Journalism Award’ instituted by the Hem-Sarita Foundation was conferred on journalist Rajbabu Shankar. The award carries a purse of Rs 50 thousand and 555.
