Sunsari: Due to heavy rainfall over the past days, the water level in the Saptakoshi River has risen significantly. To manage the excess water, authorities have opened all 56 gates of the Koshi barrage.
Ramchandra Tiwari, Chief District Officer of Sunsari, reported that the river’s flow at the Koshi Barrage is currently 368,000 cubic feet per second. Officials are closely monitoring the water levels and have activated red warning lights indicating the highest danger level.
The Saptakoshi Water Measurement Center has confirmed that water levels have surpassed the warning thresholds. There is a risk of flooding in parts of Udayapur and Sunsari due to the swollen river. CDO Tiwari has urged residents along the banks of the Saptakoshi River to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions for their safety.
