Kathmandu . In the wake of the tragic crash of an Air India flight, Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has been temporarily closed, airport authorities confirmed in an official statement.
According to the airport spokesperson, Flight AI171, which was headed to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday. In response, all flight operations at the airport have been suspended until further notice.
The official statement reads:
“Air India Flight AI171, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in a crash shortly after departure. Due to the severity of the incident, Ahmedabad International Airport is now closed. All scheduled flights have been suspended until further updates are issued.”
Passengers are strongly advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest information before proceeding to the airport.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience during this difficult time. Further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available,” the statement concluded.
