Kathmandu– The Changan NEVO Q05 has continued its impressive performance in China, emerging as the
country’s best-selling compact SUV in August 2026. The latest result extends the Q05’s leadership streak to five consecutive months, strengthening its position in one of the world’s largest and most competitive automotive markets.
The NEVO Q05 was launched in Nepal only a few weeks ago and received an overwhelming response, securing a significant number of bookings during the NADA Auto Show. Deliveries of the electric SUV are now scheduled to begin in Nepal within the next few days. According to the latest retail-sales data from China, the Q05 recorded sales of 17,349 units in August. The result confirmed its continued leadership of the compact-SUV segment from April
through August 2026, demonstrating the model’s ability to maintain strong customer demandbeyond its initial market momentum.
The Q05 first reached the top of the segment in April with sales of 15,814 units. It retained its leadership in May with 15,954 units before sales climbed to 18,908 units in June. The model maintained nearly the same level of demand in July, recording 18,871 units, followed by another strong performance of 17,349 units in August. Across these five months, the Q05 achieved combined retail sales of 86,896 units-an impressive result that highlights its growing acceptance among buyers.
Ahead of Established Competitors In August, the Q05 finished ahead of several well-established Chinese and international models. The Toyota Corolla Cross ranked second with sales of 14,675 units, followed by the Geely Boyue L-known as the Geely Starray in international markets-with 14,302 units. The Toyota RAV4 recorded sales of 14,062 units, while the BYD Song Pro New Energy-marketed as the BYD Sealion 5 in several international markets-registered 13,954 units. The Geely Xingyue L, known internationally as the Geely Monjaro, followed with sales of 13,287 units.
The Q05 therefore outsold its nearest competitor by 2,674 units in August, reinforcing its clear lead in the segment.
Although its August sales were slightly lower than in July, the Q05 remained comfortably ahead of its major competitors. Maintaining monthly sales above 15,000 units for five consecutive months also shows that its success extends beyond launch excitement or short-term promotional activity.
What Is Driving Its Popularity?
The growing popularity of the Q05 can largely be attributed to its compelling combination of space, comfort, technology and value. Its 2,735 mm wheelbase creates a spacious cabin, while reclining rear seats, practical luggage capacity, nine-layer seat construction and multiple storage spaces make it particularly suitable for families.
The Q05 also addresses key EV-user expectations through CATL battery cells and 3C fast- charging technology, which can charge the battery from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 15 minutes under suitable conditions. Its contemporary styling, aerodynamic profile, intelligent features and premium-looking interior further enhance its appeal among younger and technology-focused buyers.
Five consecutive months at the top of China’s compact-SUV segment provide strong market validation for the Changan NEVO Q05. Its sustained success demonstrates that customers are increasingly choosing EVs that deliver an “A Class Above” experience in comfort, design and technology while remaining within an accessible price category.
