Changan has unveiled its first EV with a battery swap feature. The Ocean 520, launched in the Chinese market, allows its battery to be swapped using the CTEL battery network. This new electric sedan is equipped with a Choco-SEB scalable battery system that can be replaced in just 2 minutes.
The Ocean 520 is powered by three battery cells, each with a capacity of 26.5 kWh. The total battery capacity can be up to 79.8 kWh, with each cell pack providing a range of up to 200 kilometers. With all three battery packs connected, the car offers a range of 515 kilometers, according to the CLTC (China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle).
The car is fitted with a 105 kW motor. The Ocean 520 has a length of 4770 mm, a width of 1840 mm, a height of 1470 mm, and a wheelbase of 2765 mm. Weighing 1535 kg, the car has a top speed of 135 km/h. Details about the car’s price and other features have not been released yet.
