Kathmandu – The Mount Everest Motorsport Festival concluded with Ashish Bharti winning the Autocross Challenge and Nepal Autogymkhana (Men’s) category, while Ashish Kumar Shakya triumphed in the Kartmandu Cup and Nawang Moktang secured the victory in the Nepal Autogymkhana (Women’s) category.
The event was organized by the Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) at the Himalayan Motorland in Dhulikhel.
The festival, under the International Automobile Federation’s Sports Development Program, was sponsored by Total Energies Nepal with financial support from the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council. The event featured races in four motorsport categories, ATV demos, a vintage car exhibition, and various other attractions.
In the Autocross Challenge, Ravi Sunuwar and Sundar Hona secured the second and third places, respectively. In the Kartmandu Cup, Pravin Karki and Jay Pratap Maske placed second and third, respectively. In the Men’s Autogymkhana, Ravi Sunuwar and Digvijay Acharya claimed the second and third positions, while in the Women’s Autogymkhana, Barsha Basnet and Pragya Kadel secured second and third places.
The winners received cash prizes of NPR 27,000, NPR 9,000, and NPR 3,000, respectively, along with shields, certificates, and gift hampers from Total Energies.
The festival was flagged off by Deepak Lama, Member Secretary of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council. More than fifty participants competed in various events including the Autocross Challenge, Kartmandu Cup, Quad Bike Adventure, and Nepal Autogymkhana (Men’s and Women’s) categories.
While inaugurating the event, Member Secretary Lama emphasized that motorsports, combining skill, speed, and engineering, is gaining popularity among the youth of Nepal and that the Bagmati Sports Council will continue to be directly involved in promoting this field. He also encouraged the players.
The awards were presented later in the day at Dhulikhel by Dashrath Risal, President of the Nepal Automobiles Association, Advisor Thakur Prasad Nyaupane, and Subodh Thapa, Sales Head of Total Energies Nepal, to all the winners and participants.
