KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 20
Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka and Wang Yi, state councilor and minister of foreign affairs of the People’s Republic of China, held an hour-long telephone conversation yesterday morning.
During the conversation, the two foreign ministers discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including COVID-19 vaccine cooperation, trade and commerce, development cooperation and border management. They also talked about progress of different development projects, return of Nepali students to China for continuation of their studies, increasing the number of containers of fertilizers and other goods and their shipment through Tatopani/Zhangmu and Rasuwagadhi/Kerung border ports and resumption of regular air service between Nepal and China.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two foreign ministers agreed to work closely on issues of common interest and to further promote friendly and long-standing dual relations and cooperation between the two countries. Foreign Minister Khadka reiterated Nepal’s One China policy and appreciated the Government of the People’s Republic of China for continuous support to Nepal’s economic development.
On the occasion, State Councillor Wang Yi announced that China would provide additional grant of two million COVID-l9 vaccines to Nepal. Minister Khadka thanked the Chinese Government for consistently supporting Nepal in its fight against COVID-l9. The State Councillor extended an invitation to Khadka to visit China at a mutually convenient date.
