Kathmandu: Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are preparing to leave the United States and relocate to the United Kingdom. According to the BBC, the couple plans to move to a private, non-royal residence outside London by the end of this month. The decision comes as their children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, are scheduled to begin attending a British school starting in September.
King Charles was informed of their plans on Sunday and welcomed the opportunity to spend more private family time with them. Prince William and Princess Catherine have also been notified about the upcoming move. However, reports clarify that Harry and Meghan have no plans to resume active roles as working members of the Royal Family and will continue to live strictly as private individuals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex originally stepped back from their official royal duties and moved to California in 2020, leading to a period of strained ties with the royal household. Tensions appeared to ease slightly last month when Prince Harry met his father at his Gloucestershire residence. That visit marked the first time in over four years that the King was able to see his grandchildren in person.
Security arrangements remain a key issue surrounding their return to Britain. Prince Harry previously expressed concerns over safety, stating that reduced police protection—which he unsuccessfully challenged in court last year—made bringing his family back difficult. Looking ahead, Prince Harry is also expected to participate in the upcoming sports event for wounded and veteran service members, scheduled to take place in Birmingham next year.
