Kathmandu, August 25
Chief of Indian Army Manoj Pande is arriving in Kathmandu on October 5. He is set to come to Nepal for a four-day visit at the invitation of the Nepal Army Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma.
According to Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Narayan Silwal, President Bidya Devi Bhandari will honor Indian Army Chief Pande with an Honorary Commander during his visit to Nepal. Pandey is going to be honored as part of the long-standing tradition of honoring the army chiefs of each other’s countries with honorary army chiefs between Nepal and India.
Pande took over as the 29th Army Chief of the Indian Army on April 30 after the retirement of outgoing Army Chief Manoj Mukund Narwane. He is visiting Nepal for the first time after assuming office.
“Although the date of Pande’s visit and the program to honor him have been fixed, preparations are being made for the rest of the programs,” said Brigadier General Silwal.
According to the Nepal Army, the visit of Indian Army Chief Pande will play an important role in smoothening the relationship between the two countries. The Nepal government has already given permission for his visit.
