Kathmandu – Israeli airstrikes across Gaza overnight have killed at least 60 people, including women and children, in one of the deadliest attacks since the fragile ceasefire began earlier this month.
Medical officials said hospitals were overwhelmed by casualties. At Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, 10 bodies — among them six children and three women were brought in. In Khan Younis, the Nasser Hospital received 20 bodies, including 13 children and two women, following five airstrikes. Another 30 bodies, 14 of them children, were taken to Al-Awda Hospital in central Gaza.
Doctors described severe shortages of medical supplies and overcrowded emergency wards. Local authorities warned that dozens of families remain trapped beneath rubble, raising fears of an escalating humanitarian crisis.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered what he called a “powerful response” after accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire by firing at Israeli troops in southern Gaza.
The strikes came shortly after Hamas handed over partial remains of an Israeli hostage taken during the early stages of the war.
The United States has launched diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation, with Vice President J.D. Vance expressing hope that “the violence will end soon.” But analysts warn the renewed bombings could push the already fragile truce to collapse, deepening Gaza’s suffering once again.
