KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called for collective efforts to eliminate corruption, poor governance and administrative delays, stressing the need to build a government that works in the interests of every citizen.
In his message on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami, Prime Minister Shah extended his wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity and progress to Nepalis living both at home and abroad.
He said that addressing the country’s long-standing problems, including inequality and political misconduct, requires honesty, strong determination and collective commitment. He also stressed that meaningful change is possible only when people transform both their thinking and behaviour.
Highlighting the religious and cultural significance of Bijaya Dashami, Shah described the festival as a celebration of the victory of truth over falsehood. He referred to the mythological victories of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura and Lord Rama over Ravana as symbols of the triumph of good over evil.
The Prime Minister said the tradition of receiving tika, jamara and blessings from elders encourages people to pursue good deeds and overcome challenges. He also noted that visiting relatives and gathering with family members during Dashain helps strengthen relationships and foster a sense of closeness.
Shah further said that the festival offers an opportunity for individuals to overcome negative qualities such as ego, greed, jealousy, violence and discrimination.
He called on people to embrace positive values and work together towards building a fairer, more responsible and prosperous society.
