Kathmandu : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has highlighted the importance of enhancing the capabilities of Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions abroad to better serve Nepalis overseas.
During a discussion on the Organisation and Management Survey of the Foreign Ministry and its subordinate bodies at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that ensuring the welfare and rights of Nepalis abroad is a top priority. He underscored the need to modernize and strengthen the organizational structure and human resources management of these institutions, which currently operate under outdated frameworks.
“The number of Nepalis migrating abroad is increasing, but our Foreign Ministry and its missions need to be updated accordingly. We must enhance technical preparations at the secretary-level to effectively address the needs of Nepalis abroad,” Prime Minister Dahal stated.
Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha also stressed the importance of bolstering the Foreign Ministry and its subsidiary bodies during the discussion.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Bhanu Bhakta Joshi, Acting Chief Secretary Leela Devi Gadtaula, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini, and officials from OPMCM and the Foreign Ministry.
