Chitwan .The Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) has declared a public holiday for all schools within the metropolis due to the ongoing extreme heat conditions. The decision, effective from Tuesday, June 11, will remain in place until Friday, June 13.
Subash Chandra Acharya, head of the educational administration division of BMC, stated that the decision was made with student health and safety in mind, considering the soaring temperatures in the region. Over the past few days, temperatures in Chitwan have been fluctuating between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius, creating challenging conditions for students and school staff.
Authorities have urged parents to take necessary precautions during this period. Parents are advised not to allow children outdoors during the daytime, and to prevent them from swimming in rivers and ponds or engaging in fishing activities, all of which pose additional risks in the current heatwave.
The noticeable increase in temperature over the past two days has raised health concerns, particularly for children. The BMC’s proactive step is aimed at minimizing heat-related illnesses and ensuring student safety.
The metropolis will monitor the situation further and provide updates if additional measures are needed.
