KATHMANDU: The British Education Group (BEG) celebrated the achievements of its Class of 2026 with a joint graduation ceremony held at The Soaltee Kathmandu on Friday, bringing together graduates, their families, faculty members and guests from across its four institutions.
The 12th Graduation Ceremony of The British College was organised as a group-wide celebration, bringing together graduating students from The British College, British International College, British Model College and British Professional College to mark the completion of their academic journeys.
The ceremony recognised students from a wide range of academic programmes, including A Levels, professional qualifications, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, computing, information technology and accountancy.
The programmes included Executive MBA, MBA, MSc IT, MSc Advanced Computer Science, MSc Professional Accountancy, ACCA, BBA, BSc (Hons) Computing, BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, and A Levels.
The graduation ceremony was conducted in two sessions, with graduates formally receiving their awards and qualifications from the group’s international academic partners, including Leeds Beckett University, the University of the West of England, Keele University, the University of London, ACCA and Cambridge International Examinations.
The proceedings began with an academic procession of graduates, followed by the national anthems of Nepal and the United Kingdom. The traditional lighting of the Panas was led by Rajen Kandel, Group CEO of British Education Group, formally opening The British College’s 12th Graduation Ceremony.
Addressing the graduating students, Kandel congratulated them on reaching an important milestone and thanked the graduates, their families, faculty members and the wider college community for their continued trust and support.
Reflecting on the significance of the 12th graduation ceremony, he highlighted the institution’s continued growth and the achievements of its graduating students.
Kandel also highlighted the growing alumni community, noting that the Class of 2026 has joined a network of more than 4,000 graduates of The British College and a wider British Education Group community of more than 10,000 graduates.
He encouraged the graduates to remain connected with the college and one another as they move towards further studies, professional careers and new opportunities.
The ceremony also brought together representatives from the group’s academic and international network. Paul Cleves MBE, Advisor to The British College, and Michael Rutland OBE, First Honorary Consul of Bhutan to the UK and former Advisor to The British College, addressed the graduates and shared messages as they prepare for the next stage of their academic and professional lives.
Dave Chesley, Senior Lecturer and Link Tutor at Leeds Beckett University, attended the ceremony representing the university’s academic partnership with The British College.
The international academic community was further represented through video messages from Professor Steve West CBE, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of the West of England; Professor Kevin Shakesheff, Vice-Chancellor of Keele University; and Simon Cleary of the University of London, who congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
Alongside the conferment of academic awards, Excellence Awards were also presented to recognise outstanding student achievements. Representatives from different programmes addressed their fellow graduates, sharing reflections on their academic experiences and the journey that led them to graduation.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Arun Kandel, Country Director of The British College, followed by photographs and celebrations involving graduates, families, faculty members and guests.
Amardeep Mandal, Chief Growth Officer of British Education Group, said the joint graduation marked an important milestone for the group as all four institutions had come together on a single platform for the first time.
“This graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone for British Education Group as, for the first time, all four institutions have come together to celebrate the achievements of our graduating students on one platform,” Mandal said.
He added that the ceremony reflected the group’s shared vision, collective strength and commitment to providing quality education that creates opportunities beyond borders.
“As our graduates move forward into their professional careers and further studies, we take pride in their achievements and look forward to seeing them become the next generation of leaders, innovators and professionals in Nepal and internationally,” Mandal said.
